Blue Plaque Trail

What is it?

There have been many influential achievements by brilliant men and women who have worked at the University of Birmingham since its earliest days. Scientific discoveries, artistic creations and inventions of international significance have taken place here. Some of those responsible have been appropriately honoured with national and international awards including the Nobel Prize.

The Blue Plaque Trail is designed to highlight special achievements of notable individuals who have been associated with the University of Birmingham. Blue circular plaques, positioned on buildings will be accompanied by a corresponding leaflet and map to guide people around the campus, highlighting places where these high-achievers worked.

The University’s Blue Plaque scheme is a way of celebrating those who have helped to shape our heritage as a research university. The blue plaques will be markers which we hope may inspire all who pass by.

The Blue Plaque Trail was officially opened by Vice-Chancellor Professor David Eastwood on 25 May.
